Understanding Who Provides Your ABA Care at Lake Ridge Community Support Services
When choosing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) services for yourself or a loved one, knowing who is delivering your care—and how that care is supervised—is the most critical step in ensuring safety, quality, and meaningful results.
The Ontario Standard: Regulated Behaviour Analysis
On July 1, 2024, Ontario reached a historic milestone: Behaviour Analysis became a regulated health profession overseen by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO). This regulation ensures that anyone practicing as a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) meets strict educational, clinical, and ethical standards, giving families peace of mind and accountability.
Who Makes Up Your Clinical Team?
Your care at LRCSS is built on a multi-tiered, collaborative clinical team model where every role serves a distinct purpose.
1. Registered Behaviour Analysts (RBAs)
Role: Autonomous health professionals who lead your clinical team.
What They Do: RBAs conduct functional assessments, design customized intervention plans, analyze data, continuously adjust programming, and ensure strict adherence to professional ethics.
At LRCSS: We employ 41 RBAs who directly design and supervise care across our community programs.
2. Behaviour Technicians
Role: Frontline providers who implement the individual care plan directly with clients.
What They Do: Technicians deliver daily instruction, collect real-time data, and build rapport using compassionate, positive reinforcement strategies under direct RBA supervision.
At LRCSS: While frontline certification is not mandated by provincial law, 17 of our Behaviour Technicians hold the voluntary International Behaviour Technician (IBT®) credential from the International Behaviour Analysis Organization (IBAO).
3. Specialized Experts
For unique clinical needs, our team includes specialized practitioners—such as our Certified Behavioural Sexologist working within our SAFE Hub program to support body autonomy, personal safety, and healthy relationships.
How Supervision & Ethics Protect Your Care
Ethical ABA care relies on routine, structured supervision:
Direct Observation: Your RBA regularly observes sessions (both in-person and virtual) to evaluate treatment fidelity.
Data-Driven Decisions: Every target skill or behaviour is tracked systematically so adjustments are made based on evidence, not guesswork.
Continuous Staff Development: As a certified BACB and CPBAO Continuing Education Provider, LRCSS ensures every team member receives regular, up-to-date training.
