Crisis Prevention and Management for Caregivers
🛡️ Prevent and Manage Behavioural Crisis
Learn to navigate high-stress situations with confidence. Gain practical de-escalation skills and safety strategies in this evidence-based workshop.
Caring for a child with autism can sometimes involve intense behavioural challenges that feel overwhelming or even unsafe. If you’ve felt like you are "walking on eggshells" or aren't sure how to respond when a situation escalates, this workshop will provide a clear roadmap to keep everyone safe.
This 2.5-hour educational session is based on the evidence-based principles of the Safe Management Group (SMG). You will move from being reactive to proactive, learning how to stop a crisis before it starts.
What You’ll Learn:
✅ Risk Assessment: How to prepare yourself, your child, and your environment to increase safety.
✅ The Four Phases of Crisis: Understand how a crisis develops and how to de-escalate effectively at each stage.
✅ Triggers & Functions: Identify the "why" behind your child's behaviour and the environmental factors that contribute to it.
✅ Self-Regulation: Strategies for caregivers to remain calm and productive during a crisis.
✅ Relationship Repair: Techniques for debriefing and rebuilding the bond with your child after an incident.
