The LEAP: Learn, Explore & Play program is a 3-part series designed to help caregivers of young children with autism teach foundational communication skills through fun, everyday play.
If you’re a caregiver of a child with autism, and you’re concerned about meeting their communication milestones, you’re not alone. We’re here to help you turn everyday play into powerful connection and growth. You can help them develop the skills needed to navigate the world and advocate for themselves, and you can start right here, with LEAP.
What You’ll Learn:
LEAP is more than a workshop—it’s a hands-on experience that gives you the tools to help your child thrive. You'll discover how to:
🪀 Turn Play into a Learning Tool: Understand how to create opportunities for communication and learning in your daily playtime.
🧒 Follow Your Child's Lead: Learn to observe your child's interests and use them to build connection and inspire communication.
🧑🏫 Teach Foundational Skills: Gain practical strategies to teach key communication building blocks, including:
Labelling items
Requesting items
Motor and verbal imitation
Joint attention
🏆 Give Effective Praise and Rewards: Master positive reinforcement techniques to inspire your child to communicate more.
How LEAP Works
Our unique 3-part series provides you with a personalized coaching experience from an ABA trained clinician.
Part 1: Virtual Learning Session: Join a live, virtual session to learn the building blocks of communication and evidence-based strategies you’ll use in your coaching sessions.
Part 2 & 3: Individual Coaching Sessions: Participate in two personalized sessions (virtual or in-person) with a clinician. You'll get real-time feedback and guidance on how to practice the skills you’ve learned, tailored to your child’s specific needs and goals.
Who Should Attend?
👪 Caregivers of a child under 6 with autism.
Eligibility
✔ Must be a caregiver of a child under 6 with autism.
✔ The child must be registered with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and have a valid OAP registration number.
✔ For virtual sessions, access to an internet connection and a device with a camera/microphone is required.
